Jim King announces run for mayor with wife Debra

(WHAS11) - Soon there will be three democratic candidates looking to replace Jerry Abramson as Louisville’s mayor. Tuesday the Metro Council budget chair Jim King says his agenda if elected "is focused on growing the local economy, providing reliable safety and services and managing the city budget."

A past president of the Metro Council, King joins the current president David Tandy and businessman Greg Fischer in the May, 2010 democratic primary. King is the President of King Southern Bank and the CEO of an accounting firm. He plans to formally announce his candidacy Wednesday at the deputy sheriff's FOP lodge. Other democrats already in the race are council president David Tandy and businessman Greg Fischer.

Meanwhile, no republicans have declared for mayor, including businessman Larry Bisig who decided against it Tuseday.

The GOP’s most prominent possible candidate former lieutenant governor Steve Pence is expected to announce his decision within weeks.
