Jim King Files for Office of Mayor of Louisville, continues to lay out plans for Administration

Louisville, KY – After spending the weekend talking with supporters and announcing a plan for better Parks and Recreational opportunities, Councilman King unveiled another commitment to Louisville’s families by laying out plans for an expanded Library system throughout our community.

Additionally, at 3:00 pm today, Councilman King officially filed his paperwork with the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office for Mayor of Louisville.

“I’m humbled that as the son of a laundry truck driver and dedicated mother I have the opportunity to represent my hometown community as their next Mayor. My parents taught me the values of hard work and dedicated commitment to a cause and I firmly believe that those values will help me win this election.”

Councilman King was born in Louisville’s St. Joseph’s neighborhood and raised in the nearby Highlands community. After building many successful businesses, he went on to serve as the Metro Councilman for Louisville’s 10th Council District. He was elected Vice-Chairman of the Democratic Caucus in 2005, Democratic Caucus Chairman in 2006 and 2007, Metro Council President in 2008 and Metro Council Budget Chair in 2009 and 2010.

King has served on many community and civic boards including The Louisville Orchestra, Kentucky Derby Festival, Simmons College and the Boys and Girls Club of Kentuckiana.

“As Mayor of Louisville, I will be most honored and proud to stand strong for all citizens of Metro Louisville. I promise to listen and lead for citizens all across this community, and I continue to stay focused on the issues that face this community. The people of Louisville do not need sound bites, they need solutions.”

Jim is married to his wife, Debbie and together have four children and eight grandchildren, all still living in Louisville.
